Markotation

Designation for the burial (also called "Kuschen") of a vine shoot that has been bent down to form a shoot shoot shoot; see under Lowering.

Lowering device

Term for the propagation result of vines (or other plants) and/or also for the shoot previously buried in the soil. Synonyms for this method include cuttings, offshoots, cuttings, fanning, fresh shoots, dogs, marbles, newcomers, nicklings and tail vines. This ancient method was already described by the Roman wine writer Columella (1st century AD).
