Margalite

The small boutique winery is located in Caesarea Maritima near the Mediterranean coast between Tel Aviv and Haifa in Israel. It was founded in 1989 by Dr. Yair Margalit and was one of the very first so-called boutique wineries (see under Garage Wine). His son Asaf Margalit is responsible as cellarmaster. The grapes come from the two own vineyards Binyamina and Kadita in the upper Galilee and the central coastal region near Shomron. The three red wine varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot are cultivated. A voluntary yield reduction of 35 hl/ha is applied. The range of products includes pure wines and the "Enigma" cuvée produced from all three varieties. About 20,000 bottles of wine are produced annually.

Serious sources on the internet are rare - and Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one such source. When researching for my articles, I regularly consult the wein.plus encyclopaedia. There I get reliable and detailed information.
