Along with Altenberg, Kapellenberg, Kirchberg, Klosterberg, Rosenberg and Sonnenberg, one of the most common single-vineyard names in Germany. There are also the sites Herrnberg, Herrenberger and Maximiner Herrenberg. Some other vineyard names include Herrenberg, for example Deutschherrenberg, Domherrenberg, Graf Beyßel Herrenberg and Kirchherrenberg. The name is usually derived from a former manorial estate. It occurs 44 times in 9 of the 13 wine-growing regions.

Erden - Moselle (Bernkastel)

The southeast to southwest-facing vineyards at 220 to 300 metres above sea level with a slope gradient of 15 to 60% cover 15.5 hectares of vineyards on stony, heavily weathered clay-slate soil. Below this, the single vineyard Treppchen adjoins. Here, mainly the Riesling variety is cultivated. The Berres, Dr. Hermann, Lotz Klaus, Roth Andreas, S. A. Prüm and St. Anna wineries, for example, have shares in the site.

Heidelberg/Leimen - Baden (Badische Bergstrasse)

The west to southwest facing vineyards with slopes ranging from 10 to 30% cover 46 hectares of vineyards. The soils are predominantly shell limestone, interspersed with mottled sandstone and loess loam. Here, mainly the varieties Riesling, Silvaner and Müller-Thurgau are cultivated.
