Mandrègue

The red grape variety originates from France. Synonyms are Manrègue, Mone and Néral. According to DNA analyses carried out in 2013, it is a presumably natural cross between Black Morocco x Corteza Nera (Cortese Nero). However, this is based on only 20 DNA markers (see Molecular Genetics for more information). Some vines of the endangered variety have been discovered in the Côtes du Marmandais area in southwestern France. A revival is being attempted by individual winegrowers. However, in 2016, no stock was reported (Kym Anderson statistics).
