The white grape variety originates from Italy. Synonyms are Malvasia Aromatica di Parma and Malvasia Maiatico. The parentage is unknown. It is one of the numerous mostly unrelated varieties with the name part Malvasia (see there). Whether there is a relationship to the Californian variety Malvasia Aromatica di Parma regarding the synonym is not known. It is a purely female grape variety. The berries have a discreet muscat tone. No stocks were recorded in 2016 (Kym Anderson statistics).
