The red grape variety is an interspecific new variety between Salado x Pense (Molinera). It contains genes from Vitis aestivalis, Vitis champinii, Vitis labrusca and Vitis vinifera. The hybrid was crossed in 1902 in the USA by the private breeder Thomas Volney Munson (1843-1913). The variety is cultivated in the US state of Texas. In 2016, three hectares of vineyards were designated there (Kym Anderson statistics).
