lind

Description (also slimy, tough) for a wine in the context of a wine address. This is characterised by a (conceptually rather negative) viscosity and a buttery taste and smell. In its strongest form, it is the wine defect Lindton (see there). A related term is milky. In contrast, there are positive terms for a pronounced consistency; these are fat, meaty, full-bodied and oily. See also under viscosity.

The glossary is a monumental achievement and one of the most important contributions to wine knowledge. Of all the encyclopaedias I use on the subject of wine, it is by far the most important. That was the case ten years ago and it hasn't changed since.
