The Moser family is one of the most traditional winegrowing families in Austria; the family history dates back to the 12th century. The ancestral home is in Rohrendorf near Krems. Several family members have made outstanding contributions to viticulture. Particularly noteworthy is Prof. Dr h.c. Laurenz Moser III (1905-1978), the founder of the high culture form of cultivation, which is also known as "Moser culture" in homage to him.
