Leithner Thomas

The winery is located in the municipality of Langenlois in the wine growing region of Kamptal (Lower Austria). Wine growing has been in the family for centuries. The great-grandfather of the present owner Thomas Leithner was the well-known vine breeder Dr. Fritz Zweigelt (1888-1964). The vineyards comprise 12 hectares of vines in the Fraupoint, Schenkenbichl and Steinhaus areas. They are 75% planted with the white wine varieties Grüner Veltliner (main variety), Riesling, Traminer, Chardonnay and Neuburger, as well as with Zweigelt, created by the great-grandfather. The emblem contained in the logo is the grasshopper species Mother of God Mantis (Mantis Religiosa), which symbolizes environmentally conscious organic winegrowing in harmony with nature. Premium wines are Grüner Veltliner Privat, the white wine cuvée "Mantis Religiosa" (Chardonnay, Neuburger) as well as the Zweigelt Hommage, which is aged for 24 months in barrique barrels. Approximately 50,000 bottles of wine are produced annually; a part of it goes to the USA. Fine brandies are also produced.
