The red grape variety originates from Italy. Synonyms are Zampa di Cesanese and Zampa di Piccione. The parentage is unknown. The late-ripening vine is grown in small quantities in the province of Frosinone in the region of Lazio. In 2016, 0.5 hectares of vines were reported (Kym Anderson statistics).
