The winery is located in the community of Großhöflein in the Burgenland DAC area of Leithaberg (Austria). The estate, which has been in family ownership for several generations, was taken over by Josef Leberl in 1982. From the 1984 vintage onwards, he experimented with barrique ageing and was one of the first producers in Burgenland. Today, his son Alexander is responsible as cellar master and plant manager. The vineyards comprise 22 hectares of vines in the Reisbühel, Föllikberg and Tatschler vineyards on the southern slopes of the Leithagebirge. They are planted to 70% with the red wine varieties Zweigelt, Blaufränkisch, Blauburgunder and Cabernet Sauvignon, and 30% with the white wine varieties Welschriesling, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Sämling 88.
