The winery is located in the municipality of Illmitz in the Burgenland wine-growing region of Neusiedlersee (Austria). It is run by the third generation of the family, Helmut Lang. The vineyards cover 15 hectares of vines on the edge of the Neusiedlersee-Seewinkel National Park. They are 75% planted with the white wine varieties Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Riesling, Gewürztraminer, Sämling 88, Grüner Veltliner and Welschriesling, and 25% with the red wine varieties Blaufränkisch, Zweigelt, Pinot Noir, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Since the early 1970s, the philosophy of the winery has been to produce single-varietal wines, especially in the sweet wine segment. Beerenauslese, Ausbruch, Trockenbeerenauslese and ice wines make up about 60% of the production. They are matured in steel tanks and partly also in barriques. Helmut Lang is one of the absolute sweet wine specialists with worldwide recognition. Around 30,000 bottles of wine are produced annually. Distillates are also produced.
