DOC area for white wines, red wines and rosé wines in the Italian region of Calabria. The zone covers 11 hectares of vineyards in the municipalities of Curinga, Falerna, Feroleto Antico, Gizzeria, Lamezia Terme, Maida, Pianopoli and San Pietro a Maida in the province of Catanzaro, and Francavilla Angitola in the province of Vibo Valentia. Bianco is made from Greco Bianco (max. 50%) and other authorised white varieties (max. 50%). Rosso (also as Novello and Riserva) and Rosato are blended from the varieties Gaglioppo and/or Magliocco Canino (35-45%), Greco Nero and/or Marsigliana Nera = Magliocco Dolce (25-45%), as well as other authorised varieties (max. 40%).
The glossary is a monumental achievement and one of the most important contributions to wine knowledge. Of all the encyclopaedias I use on the subject of wine, it is by far the most important. That was the case ten years ago and it hasn't changed since.
