Lambrusca Vittona

The red grape variety originates from Italy and is one of the numerous Lambrusco varieties. Synonyms are Lambrusca and Vittona. According to DNA analyses carried out in 2020, it comes from a presumably natural cross between Bottagera False x unknown partner. The medium-maturing, high-yielding vine is resistant to grape rot and botrytis. The variety used to be widespread in the province of Torino in Piedmont. Today, it is only cultivated there in small quantities. It is used in the red wine Ramìe of the DOC area Pinerolese, where it is confusingly declared as Lambrusca di Alessandria. No stock was declared in 20160 (Kym Anderson statistics).
