DOC area (also Kalterer, Italian Caldaro or Lago di Caldaro) for red wines in the Italian dual region of Trentino-Alto Adige. The largest part is in the northern area of Alto Ad ige (Italian: Alto Aldige, province of Bolzano), but some municipalities in the southern area of Trentino (province of Trento) are also included.

Municipalities

The zone includes the municipalities of Andriano/Andrian, Appiano/Eppan, Bronzolo/Branzoll, Caldaro/Kaltern, Cortaccia/Kurtatsch, Egna/Neumarkt, Magre' all'Adige/Margreid, Montagna/Montan, Nalles/Nals, Ora/Auer, Termeno/Tramin and Vedena/Pfatten in the province of Bolzano/Bolzena in South Tyrol, as well as Cembra, Faedo, Giovo, Lavis, Lisignago, Mezzocorona, Rovere' della Luna and San Michele all'Adige (with the well-known Istituto Agrario di San Michele all'Adige) in the province of Trento in Trentino. The historic Classico or classic wine-growing area includes Appiano/Eppan, Bronzolo/Branzoll, Caldaro/Kaltern, Cortaccia/Kurtatsch, Egna/Neumarkt, Montagna/Montan, Ora/Auer, Termeno/Tramin and Vedena/Pfatten (province of Bozen/Bolzena).
