Lafayette

This white grape variety is a new breed between Madeleine Angevine x Riesling. With the same parents the new breed Président Carnot was created. The crossing was made by Christian Oberlin (1831-1915) in Alsace/France. It was named after the French officer and politician Marie Joseph La Fayette (1757-1834), who fought against the English in the American war of independence. In 2016 no stock was declared (Kym Anderson).
