The French ampelographer Thierry Lacombe works at the "École Nationale Supérieur Agronomique", a branch of the University of Montpellier. In close collaboration with Jean-Michel Boursiquot (*1958) and other colleagues, the identity of almost a thousand grape varieties was determined by means of extensive DNA analyses. In 2013 he published an article with the parentage of 828 grape varieties. These included over 100 direct descendants each of the two leading varieties Gouais Blanc (Heunisch) and Hebén.
For my many years of work as an editor with a wine and culinary focus, I always like to inform myself about special questions at Wine lexicon. Spontaneous reading and following links often leads to exciting discoveries in the wide world of wine.
