Kyōto Protocol

Name (also Kyoto Protocol) for a UN framework agreement adopted in Kyōto (Japan) in 1997 regarding climate protection in connection with climate change. The aim of the agreement is to reduce anthropogenic emissions of important greenhouse gases. See decarbonisation and greenhouse effect.
