The red grape variety (also Kurutsver) is a new cross between Kadarka x Muscat Bouschet. The cross was made in 1952 in Hungary by the breeders Andreas Kurucz and Istvan Kwaysser. It is grown in small quantities in the Kunsag area. In 2016, 0.4 hectares of vines were designated (Kym Anderson).
