The winery is located in the municipality of Weinstadt-Strümpfelbach (Remstal-Stuttgart area) in the German wine-growing region of Württemberg. It is located in the 500-year-old forester's lodge in the historic centre of the village and has been run by Margret and Werner Kuhnle since 1983. Both descend from winegrowing families with centuries of winegrowing tradition. The vineyards cover 23 hectares of vineyards in the single vineyards Altenberg and Nonnenberg (Strümpfelbach), Sonnenberg (Schnait), and Pulvermächer (Stetten). They are 70% planted with the red wine varieties Trollinger, Samtrot, Schwarzriesling, Spätburgunder, Lemberger, St. Laurent, Merlot, Zweigelt, Regent, Shiraz and Garanoir, and 30% with the white wine varieties Riesling, Kerner, Silvaner, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay.

The glossary is a monumental achievement and one of the most important contributions to wine knowledge. Of all the encyclopaedias I use on the subject of wine, it is by far the most important. That was the case ten years ago and it hasn't changed since.
