The winery is located in the municipality of Münster-Sarmsheim in the German wine-growing region of Nahe. It was founded as early as 1790. The family has lived in the estate building since 1830. After studying agricultural sciences, internships at Californian wineries and research work at the Geisenheim Research Institute, Stefan Rumpf took over the winery from his parents in 1984. Until then, some of the wines were sold to very renowned other wineries, but still almost exclusively in barrels. Stefan Rumpf switched to bottled wine sales and self-marketing. Since 1994, his wife Cornelia has been running the estate tavern as a country inn. Natural viticulture is practised. Special attention is paid to grapes harvested in several courses by means of manual harvesting with optimal ripeness.

There is a vast number of sources on the web where one can acquire knowledge about wine. But none has the scope, timeliness and accuracy of the information in the encyclopaedia at wein.plus. I use it regularly and rely on it.
