The winery is located in the municipality of Siebeneich near Terlan in the Adige Valley (province of Bolzano) in the Italian wine-growing region of South Tyrol (Trentino-Alto Adige region). Archaeological finds of charred wine cores and wine-growing tools such as vine knives and bronze vessels from the 5th to 3rd century B.C. testify to a wine culture thousands of years old. The origin of Kornell goes back to the 13th century. A sight to see is the historical cellar with an old torggel (tree press) from the 17th century. The traditional Brigl family has been active in the cellar business since the 16th century. The Kornell estate was acquired by Leonhard Brigl in 1927. Friedrich Brigl founded the "Brigl'sche Eigenbaukellerei" in 1950. Since 2001 the business has been managed by Florian Brigl, with Marco Chistè as cellar master.
