A grape variety called Königsast is cultivated in the Austrian wine-growing villages of Gumpoldskirchen, Guntramsdorf, Langenlois and Perchtoldsdorf. According to various sources, it is either a cross between Muskateller x(Silvaner x Riesling) or between Sauvignon Blanc x Welschriesling. In the vine museum of the Lower Austrian vineyard Leth Franz (Fels am Wagram) there are also a few vines of a variety called Königsast. Königsast (also known as Königsast in the dunes) is also a synonym for the Romanian variety Fetească Regală. According to DNA analyses, however, it comes from a different parenthood.
There is a vast number of sources on the web where one can acquire knowledge about wine. But none has the scope, timeliness and accuracy of the information in the encyclopaedia at wein.plus. I use it regularly and rely on it.
