The winery is located in the municipality of Hainfeld (area Südliche Weinstraße) in the German wine-growing region Pfalz. It was founded by Johann Adam Koch, today it is managed by Bernhard Koch, cellar master is Bernhard Schwab. The vineyards cover 42 hectares in the areas Altenforst (Burrweiler), Bischofskreuz and Vogelsprung (Flemlingen), as well as Kapelle, Letten and Ordensgut (Hainfeld). They are planted with the white wine varieties Riesling, Silvaner, Müller-Thurgau, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Scheurebe, Kerner, Rieslaner and Huxelrebe, as well as the red wine varieties Pinot Noir, Black Riesling, Dornfelder, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The vinification process is carried out with restrained use of modern technology in harmony with old traditions. Quality criteria are selective manual harvesting, ripe, healthy berries, slow fermentation, and oak barrels for red wines. We also produce sparkling wines, bottle-fermented sparkling wines, noble brandies (yeast, marc, wine, grape, fruit) and liqueurs.
