The Knoll winery is located in the Unterloiben wine-growing community in the Lower Austrian Wachau wine region. It has been run by the Knoll family for several generations. Today Emmerich and his wife Monika run the business. For decades, the winery has consistently been one of the absolute top wine addresses in Austria. The vineyards cover 15 hectares and are located in the famous Wachau vineyards of Kellerberg, Kreutles, Loibenberg and Schütt, as well as Pfaffenberg in the adjacent Kremstal wine region. Wines from Pfaffenberg may of course not be called Vinea Wachau (Federspiel, Steinfeder, Smaragd). The vineyards are planted 45% each with the main varieties Grüner Veltliner and Riesling, the rest is divided between Gelber Muskateller, Gelber Traminer, Chardonnay and Blauburgunder(Pinot Noir).
