Kloster Fürstental

single vineyard in the municipality of Bacharach in the German Middle Rhine wine-growing region. The name of the site goes back to a medieval Wilhelmite monastery in the Winzbachtal valley. The current vineyard area includes the Winzbach Valley, the Bombach Valley and the slopes below Stahleck Castle. The southeast-facing vineyard lies at 120 to 220 metres above sea level with a slope of 50% to 60% and covers almost 5 hectares of vines on a Devonian slate weathered soil with a high proportion of loess loam and fine earth. The Riesling and Pinot Noir varieties are cultivated here. The Dr Kauer and Ratzenberger wineries, for example, have shares in the site.
