Klingelberg

Part or Gewann in the single vineyard Schlossberg (Durbach) in the Ortenau area in the German wine-growing region of Baden. The vineyards cover 2.5 hectares and are individually owned by the Markgraf von Baden estate (Staufenberg Castle). In the course of the land consolidation in 1971, it was considered too small and therefore incorporated into the Schlossberg site. However, an application was made to re-define it as single vineyard, a decision is still pending (status January 2012). In April 2006, the project "Klingelberg 1782" was launched. Newly planted clones of the historic Riesling variety Klingelberger, named after the vineyard, are being tested.
