King Robert

The winery is located in the municipality of Assmannshausen in the German Rheingau wine region. A Straußwirtschaft is open during the gourmet weeks and open cellar days. The winegrowing tradition of the König family can be traced back to 1704 and has been continued by son Philipp König since the death of Robert König in 2015. The vineyards comprise seven hectares of vineyards in the individual locations Höllenberg and Frankenthal (Assmannshausen), as well as Drachenstein (Rüdesheim). They are all hillside sites and most of them are steep slopes. They are planted to 90% with the red wine varietiesPinot Noir (Spätburgunder) and Frühburgunder, as well as the white wine varieties Riesling andPinot Blanc (Weißburgunder).

The wines are almost exclusively dry vinified. The red wines mature after the traditional maceration in large wooden barrels or in barriques. They are partly bottled without filtration. The white wines are matured in stainless steel tanks and partly also in barriques. Assmannshäuser Höllenberg Spätburgunder EMPOR and Assmannshäuser Frankenthal Spätburgunder EMPOR are among the premium wines.
