The winery is located in the municipality of Piesport (Bernkastel area) in the German wine-growing region of Mosel. The traditional family has been growing grapes since the 17th century. The "WeinOase" wine tavern and four guest rooms are attached to the winery. Since 1980, Lothar Kettern and his wife Petra have been running the winery; since the 2008 vintage, their son Philipp has been working in the family business. The vineyards cover 6.5 hectares of vines in the steep areas of the single vineyard sites Falkenberg, Goldtröpfchen and Günterslay (Piesport). They are mainly planted with Riesling, as well as Müller-Thurgau, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Noir. The quality criteria in the vineyard are short pruning with only one arch of six to nine eyes, targeted defoliation of the grape zone and selective manual harvesting in often several passes with the aim of loose, small-berried, healthy grapes with optimal physiological ripeness and a maximum yield of 60hl/ha (in some cases even a maximum of 40hl/ha is achieved).

Serious sources on the internet are rare - and Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one such source. When researching for my articles, I regularly consult the wein.plus encyclopaedia. There I get reliable and detailed information.
