The traditional family business is located in the municipality of Vogtsburg-Oberbergen in the German wine-growing region of Baden. It comprises the "Franz Keller" winery, the "Schwarzer Adler" and "KellerWirtschaft" restaurants, the "Schwarzer Adler" hotel, the "Winzerhaus Rebstock" winery and an import wine trade. Senior Franz Keller made his mark for decades as an opponent of the land consolidation in 1971, in his pioneering role in the introduction of the Pinot Gris, and as a promoter of barrique ageing and fully fermented, dry wines. The winery is run by Fritz Keller and his son Friedrich Keller. With a history of over a hundred years, the wine trade with, for example, Bordeaux and Burgundy wines from prestigious wineries forms an important pillar. The restaurant "Schwarzer Adler" has been awarded a Michelin star since 1969. In addition to a large selection of wines from the restaurant's own vineyards, one can choose from around 2,700 positions of the best wines from France as well as German and international classics. The "KellerWirtschaft" offers internationally inspired cuisine. In addition to the view into the wine press house, you can enjoy a fantastic view of the typical Kaiserstühl terraced landscape as well as the Badberg nature reserve. In the "Rebstock" winegrowers' house, the cuisine has a Baden-Alsatian flavour.
In the past, you needed a wealth of encyclopaedias and specialist literature to keep up to date in your vinophile professional life. Today, Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one of my best helpers and can rightly be called the "bible of wine knowledge".
