The "Wein- und Sektgut Gerhard Karle" is located in the municipality of Ihringen (Kaiserstuhl area) in the German wine-growing region of Baden. It was founded in 1899 by Friedrich Karle. Today it is run by Gerhard and Elisabeth Karle, the fourth generation of the family. The vineyards cover 11 hectares of vines in the single vineyard sites Fohrenberg and Winklerberg. They are planted with the white wine varieties Weißburgunder, Grauburgunder, Chardonnay, Silvaner, Gewürztraminer, Muskateller and Riesling, as well as Spätburgunder. The vineyards are cultivated according to ecological principles with cover crop, as well as targeted, environmentally compatible pest control and plant protection. The wines are vinified traditionally. Fine brandies and bottle-fermented sparkling wines are also produced.
