The white grape variety is a new cross between Sukholimansky Bely x Rkatsiteli. The cross was made in 1979 by the breeder P. K. Aivazyan in Armenia. Synonyms are 2-17-22, Cangoune, Kangoon and Kangoun. It is cultivated in the province of Ararat and is mainly used for the production of spritted sweet wine as well as brandy. In 2010, 850 hectares of vines were still reported here; however, in 2016 there was no longer any stock (Kym Anderson statistics).
The Wine lexicon helps me to keep up to date and refresh my knowledge. Thank you for this Lexicon that will never end in terms of topicality! That's what makes it so exciting to come back often.
