The winegrowers' association "K&K Kamptal Klassik" in the Lower Austrian winegrowing region of Kamptal was founded in 1992 and comprises 31 member wineries. The aim is to present wine in the classic style, through ecologically oriented vineyard care, the most careful processing and cautious ageing. Area-specific quality wines are produced. The wines offered are double-checked. First of all, the wines have to obtain the Staatliche Prüfnummer (state inspection number ). If the inspection is successful, the wines in question are blind-tasted by five experienced wine tasters. A previously qualitatively defined level wine (against which all wines are measured) is used. The wines may only be marketed as association wines if they are accepted by a 3/4 majority. Thus, the Kamptal-Klassik wines correspond to the well-known Italian DOCG scheme.
