The red grape variety originates from Albania and is named after the municipality of the same name. There is a presumption that it is the original variety of the Hungarian Kadarka. However, nothing is known about the ancestry (parentage) as well as a possible genetic relationship to the Kallmet Bukmire variety. It is a purely female grape variety. No stock was reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson statistics).
