Singular situation in the municipality of Bensheim in the German growing area Hessische Bergstrasse. The south- to south-west-facing vineyards at an altitude of 130 to 220 metres above sea level with up to 30% slope inclination comprise 13 hectares of vineyards. The soils consist of shallow granite weathering with a thin layer of earth and limestone rocks underneath. Riesling, Dornfelder and Pinot Gris are cultivated here. The Bergstrasser winegrowers and the Hessian State Wine Estates (Domaine Bergstrasse), for example, have a share of the vineyards.
