The red grape variety (breeding no. UD-36.030) is an interspecific new variety between Regent x Kozma 20-3. It contains genes from Vitis amurensis, Vitis berlandieri, Vitis rupestris and Vitis vinifera. The hybrid was crossed in Italy in 2002 by grower Simone Diego Castellarin and Guido Cipriani.

The medium-maturing, constant-yielding vine is resistant to frost down to minus 24° Celsius and downy mildew, but is sensitive to powdery mildew. It produces deep, dark, fruity red wines with pronounced floral notes and aromas of violets, red berries and cherries. It is mostly used for blends.
