Johannisberg - Rheingau

The name 'Johannisberg' in the Rheingau production area has several meanings, which very often leads to confusion. A district of the municipality Geisenheim is called "Johannisberg". Behind it is the famous Johannisberg Castle (picture), which belongs to the wine-growing domain of the same name. This winery also owns the historical vineyard of the same name around the castle (picture) "Schloss Johannisberg" around this mountain. And last but not least, "Johannisberg" is also the name of the only area in the Rheingau wine region. The G.H. von Mumm winery also has a close connection to Johannisberg history.
