The winery is located in the community of Biebelsheim (Bingen area) in the German Rheinhessen wine region. It was founded in 1995 through the merger of three family vineyards. The name goes back to the three founders of the three farms: Johann Fischborn (Schufried), Johannes (Hans) Haas and Jens (North German for Johannes) Heinemeyer. Johanninger is a registered trademark. The owners are the Haas, Heinemeyer and Schufried families, who also run the different areas of the winery.

The vineyards cover 23 hectares of vineyards in three production areas. In the Rheingau wine growing region, onlyPinot Noir on red Phyllitschiefer is cultivated in the individual sites Bodental-Steinberg (Lorch) and Höllenberg(Assmannshausen). In the Nahe cultivation area in the municipality of Kreuznach,Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay andPinot Gris are grown on the shell limestone soils of the lower Nahe. In the Rheinhessen production area, in the municipality of Biebelsheim, in the location Honigberg Müller-Thurgau, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc and Silvaner, as well as in the location Kieselberg St. Laurent are cultivated. Also noble sweet specialities from Beerenauslese to ice wine are produced. The sparkling wine factory with bottle-fermented sparkling wines and the own distillery with grape variety noble brandies(marc) are of particular importance.
