The traditional winery is located in the municipality of Tattendorf in the Lower Austrian wine-growing region of the Thermenregion
. Viticulture is run by the Reinisch family in the fourth generation. It began in 1923 with a half-hectare vineyard. In 1995, the Californian-style cultural winery, which ranks among the absolute top in Austria, was put into operation with a new press house and cellar. In the vernacular the Reinisch family is also called "Mondavis of the thermal region". Johann Reinisch (1952-2009) was considered the "red wine motor" of this wine-growing region. , for which Veronika Reinisch is responsible. The vineyards cover 40 hectares of vineyards in the communities of Tattendorf (Dornfeld, Frauenfeld, Holzspur, Kellerried, Lores) and Gumpoldskirchen
(Grillenhügel, Satzing, Spiegel
). They are planted to 60% with the red wine varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, St. Laurent, Pinot Noir and Blauer Portugieser, and 40% with the white wine varieties Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc. We consistently practice natural viticulture according to organic guidelines.
The cellar contains over 600 barrique barrels, but also conventional wooden barrels of larger volume for ageing. The wines are vinified in four different lines. These are "Vom Steinfeld" (classic aging in large wooden barrels), "Specials" (various cuvées), "Reserve" (barrique aging) and the "Premium" parade line from special years (Grande Cuvée and Grande Reserve, long barrique aging). Among the top products are Chardonnay Reserve Lores (10 months wooden barrel), Pinot Noir Reserve Grillenhügel (16 months wooden barrel), Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot Reserve (up to 20 months barrique), Pinot Noir Grande Reserve Holzspur (18 months barrique, 6 months bottle) and St. Laurent Grande Reserve Holzspur (22 months barrique, 6 months bottle). In years suitable for the weather, noble sweet wines such as Beerenauslese, Trockenbeerenauslese and Eiswein (as a speciality also red wines) are produced. About 230,000 bottles of wine are produced annually. Also bottle-fermented sparkling wine, wine vinegar and noble brandies are produced. The winery is a member of the Thermenwinzer
