The winery is located in the municipality of Bernkastel-Wehlen in the German wine-growing region of Mosel. In 1911, the estate of Mathias Prüm (1835-1890) was divided among his children. The present part was inherited by Johann Josef Prüm (1873-1944), who gave his name to the estate. Since 1969, it has been run in the third generation by Dr. Manfred and Wolfgang Prüm. The vineyards cover 19 hectares of vines in the single vineyard sites Sonnenuhr, Klosterberg and Nonnenberg (Wehlen), Himmelreich (Graach), Sonnenuhr (Zeltingen) and Lay (Bernkastel). Extremely long-lived Rieslings are produced. The winery is a member of the VDP (Association of German Prädikat Wine Estates).
