The winery is located in the municipality of Ürzig (Bernkastel area) in the German wine-growing region of Mosel. The Christoffel family has been growing grapes here for more than 400 years. The manor house is a beautifully renovated 17th century half-timbered house. Under the grandfather of the current owner, Hans Leo Christoffel, the estate gained a widespread reputation as one of the best producers of classic Moselle Rieslings. Since 2001, the vineyards have been leased to Robert Eymael of the Mönchhof Robert Eymael winery. The wines are vinified in an enclosed part of the estate. Hans Leo Christoffel, however, continues to be active with his advice. The vineyards cover 3.5 hectares of vines in the Treppchen (Erden) and Würzgarten (Ürzig) sites. They are planted exclusively with ungrafted Riesling vines, some of which are over 100 years old. The winery is a member of the VDP (Association of German Prädikat Wine Estates).
