Jöbstl Johannes

The winery "Ing. Hannes and Luise Jöbstl" is located in the municipality of Wernersdorf-Wies in the Austrian wine-growing region of Western Styria. The family has been engaged in agriculture and viticulture for over 300 years. On the website of the house it says: "Our passion is to create wines and noble brandies at the highest level". The vineyards comprise eight hectares of vineyards in the Braunegg, Krass and Schilcherberg areas. The Schilcher vine Blauer Wildbacher dominates with 80% share. The rest is occupied by the varieties Gelber Muskateller, Morillon, Sauvignon Blanc, Weißburgunder and Zweigelt. The saying of Hannes Jöbstl "My love belongs to the Schilcher" is documented in the many different products of the Schilcherrebe. There are Schilcher from different vineyards or in several variations, as well as Styrian Junker, ice wine, sparkling wine, straw wine and even a brandy. Here the straw wine is called Schnürlwein, because during the production the grapes are not spread out on straw mats for drying, but hung up on strings. Responsible for the noble brandies is Waltraud Jöbstl, the owner's mother. She has already won many prizes as "Distiller of the Year" (1 x gold, 6 x silver and 1 x bronze) at the "Destillata" distillery evaluation. In various competitions she has already won more than 200 gold, silver and bronze medals. Among many other awards the "World Spirits Award 2004" should be mentioned. There is also a small liquor museum in the company. The winery is a member of the Schilcher-Schutzverein Weißes Pferd.
