The red grape variety (also called Ju Feng Noir) is an interspecific new variety between Kyoho x Jixiang. The sire variety is a mutation of Bai Xiang Qiao, the common name for the Triumph variety in China. It contains genes from Vitis labrusca and Vitis vinifera. The hybrid was crossed in 1973 at the Dalian Institute in China. The variety is widely grown in China as a table grape.
