The winery is located in the municipality of Iphofen (Steigerwald area) in the German wine-growing region of Franconia. It was founded in 1839 by Johann Balthasar Ruck. After completing his viticulture studies in Geisenheim, son Johannes took over responsibility in the cellar in 2000 and has been running the business since 2009. Father Johann takes care of the vineyards. These comprise 13 hectares of vineyards in the single vineyards Julius-Echter-Berg, Kalb and Kronsberg (Iphofen), as well as Küchenmeister and Schwanleite (Rödelsee). They are planted with the white wine varieties Silvaner (39%), Riesling (15%) Müller-Thurgau, Bacchus, Pinot Gris, Scheurebe, Pinot Blanc, Rieslaner and Traminer, as well as with the red wine varieties Pinot Noir and Domina. Traditional, environmentally friendly methods are used in the vineyard and cellar. The specially selected seedlings are cultivated at a high density of up to 7,000 vines per hectare. Through appropriate measures, a quality-increasing reduction with an average of 55 hl/ha is achieved
