The white grape variety originates from Hungary. Synonyms are Maple, Dobela Bielina, Great Javor, Great White Javor, Jauer, Jaushovez, Jausovez, Javor, Javorsa Levelü, Nagy Fehér, Hungarian Poshipon, Velki Javor, White Javor and White Morshina. According to DNA analyses carried out in 2013, the variety originates from a presumably natural cross between Alba Imputotato x Heunisch (Gouais Blanc). However, this is based on only 20 DNA markers (see Molecular genetics). Incidentally, the same parents also gave rise to the varieties Frâncușă and Furmint. Whether there is a relationship to the Barthainer variety (with synonyms Jauer, Javor) is not known. No stocks were reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson).
For my many years of work as an editor with a wine and culinary focus, I always like to inform myself about special questions at Wine lexicon. Spontaneous reading and following links often leads to exciting discoveries in the wide world of wine.
