Jauch

Old field or area measure in South Tyrol. There was/is an "old Jauch" with about 18 ares (0.18 hectares) and a "Jauch" with about 36 ares. It should not be confused with the yoke, although both terms are probably derived from the amount of arable land that can be ploughed in one day. See also under area dimensions.
