The appellation is located as an enclave in the north of the Coteaux du Loir area in the Loire wine region north of the Touraine area. This area, which is about four kilometres long and only a few hundred metres wide, is the best section or cru of the Coteaux du Loir area. The vineyards, with about 70 hectares of vineyards, are situated on a flintstone soil. The long-lasting white wine is pressed from Pineau de la Loire (Chenin Blanc) and matured dry to sweet. Well known producers are Benedicte de Rycke, Chaussard, Domaine de la Charrière, Gigou, Nicolas and Robinot.
The glossary is a monumental achievement and one of the most important contributions to wine knowledge. Of all the encyclopaedias I use on the subject of wine, it is by far the most important. That was the case ten years ago and it hasn't changed since.
