The association "International Wineries for Climate Action" was founded in 2019 by the wine multinationals Torres (Spain) and Jackson Family Wines (California). The two wineries are pioneers in developing appropriate measures against the negative effects of climate change. De IWCA is a working group of 22 wineries (as of 2022) committed to a science-based approach to reducing carbon emissions across the wine industry. The aim is to develop a standardised methodology for recording annual greenhouse gas emissions and to make this available to small wineries in a cost-effective way.
