IGT area (land wines) for white, red and rosé wines in the Italian region or on the island of Sardinia. It covers 250 hectares of vineyards in the entire region. Grape varieties authorised in the region may be used. Varietal wines must contain at least 85% of the variety in question, up to 15% may be other varieties. In the case of cuvées, two, three or four grape varieties may be listed on the bottle label in descending order of percentage, provided that no other varieties are included and the proportion of the main variety is less than 85%. For the wines, a minimum alcohol content is prescribed for each wine type, but no ageing periods.
As honorary chairman of the Domäne Wachau, it is the easiest and quickest way for me to access the wein.plus encyclopaedia when I have questions. The certainty of receiving well-founded and up-to-date information here makes it an indispensable guide.
