According to DNA analyses last done in 2018, it is a presumed natural cross between Muscat Blanc x unknown partner. However, this is based on only 20 DNA markers (see Molecular genetics). The variety was a crossing partner of the new varieties Menoir, Muscat St. Laurent, Muskat-Ottonel and Regner. It is a parent of the variety Muscat Gris de la Calmette, which was created by natural crossing.
